While you can ask for items like canned food, art materials, and books, this isn’t limited to tangible goods. It can also be client referrals, help with designing a website, assistance in deliveries, and even music recommendations.
Exchanging physical goods is not as easy during these times, compared to our usual face-to-face set-up where goods can be exchanged immediately. Thus, we are stripping down to the bare essentials, for teachers who might need immediate financial assistance. However, teachers have the option to forgo the fee altogether.
TSM will directly coordinate the exchange between students and teachers, which will most likely be done via delivery apps like Lalamove, Angkas, and Grab.
TSM will act as a middleman to discuss and assure the exchange between teacher and student, either right after the class or once quarantine has been lifted.
We are scheduled to start the first set of classes on April 10 to 12. We intended to accommodate as much freelancers as we can. However, since we’re running a fully volunteer-based operation, we are initially prepared to do at least 4 to 8 consecutive classes everyday after launching.
Depending on the community response, we will adjust to provide more classes accordingly. We hope to run this virtual season for as long as the quarantine is in place and while resources allow.
With the entire nation on lockdown and in quarantine, this leaves us with a little bit of extra time on our hands.
As such, we’ve decided to run our 2020 season virtually (and much earlier than expected).
With many freelancers displaced and their projects put on hold, this opens up a valuable opportunity for our barter-for-knowledge system. After all, there may be some necessities they might need that others have a surplus of.
